Keywords: Rational choice, political psychology, behaviorism, poliheuristic theory
This article criticizes rational choice approaches for invariably interpreting activities as a result of rational decision making, whereas they cannot explain the formation of preferences and interests. On this basis approaches of political psychology get presented, which are able to compensate for these weaknesses. In a last step it gets shown how RC and behaviorist approaches complement one another and may be combined in a useful way using poliheuristic approaches.
